Writing a New Chapter
I’ve always been a teacher at heart. Not necessarily the kind who stands in front of a classroom explaining math and science to children, but one who loves to learn and share her knowledge with others. I believe this drive led me to become a writer and editor, and I know it’s what led me to start Elevated Existence Magazine more than four years ago.
Not only is this my way of serving others, but it also gives me so much joy in return. It allows me to use my unique gifts and talents to make a difference, and I believe this is important now more than ever before, as Dec. 21, 2012, marks the end of a 5,125-year cycle of time, and the beginning of a new energy and new world.
Every December, Elevated Existence honors one person who has dedicated their life and work to uplifting the world’s consciousness, helping other people learn to help themselves, and spread spiritual awareness throughout the world. This year, we presented best-selling author Gregg Braden with our 2012 Elevated Existence Spiritual Service Award. (Watch the video on our New YouTube Channel!)
Braden spent the last 30 years of his life bridging the gap between science and spirituality. He continues to uncover the teachings of our ancient, indigenous ancestors around the world, and the latest scientific discoveries, in hopes we can apply them to the problems facing the world today. With the dawn of a new age among us, his teachings provide the guidance we need to co-create a new way of living — one free of competition and war, and full of compassion, cooperation and peace.
“The world now has changed, and the way we think and live must change,” Braden says in the December 2012 Issue cover story. “We are in the midst of a powerful shift in our world and on this planet, and we need to create the kind of change that I believe is necessary to not just survive the changes, but to successfully transcend these changes and become better people and create a better world.”
Yes, Dec. 21, 2012, marks the end of a world we have come to know, but it also marks the beginning of an era filled with possibilities — and each and every one of us play an important part in what it will look like. The choices we make contribute to the world around us — we are connected to all we see — and the future is essentially in our collective hands.
All the indigenous traditions tell us they don’t know what is next for us, according to Braden. The chapter has yet to be written “because we are writing the outcome of that chapter through the choices we make in our lives right now,” he says. But he remains optimistic, and so do I.
We can create a world filled with peace, love and compassion, and to do that we need to start within ourselves. Let’s write the next chapter together!
Blessings and love to you all!
