Tips and Affirmations from Louise Hay & Cheryl Richardson

This past September, Hay House brought it’s “I Can Do It” conference to New York for the first time, and among the line-up of top speakers and authors was Louise Hay and Cheryl Richardson, who spoke about their newest book “You Can Create an Exceptional Life,” while sharing tips and affirmations with the audience.

“The energy of our thoughts and feelings goes into the world and people pick it up,” Richardson said. “The thoughts we think and the words we say create feelings, and our feelings are the currency in which we purchase our life experience. We want more money or a better relationship because we think it will make us feel better, but if we could just feel better then everything will fall into place.”

The first step to an exceptional life is starting your day on a positive note, and Hay told the audience how every day she wakes up and thanks her bed for a good night’s sleep. “Today will be an effortless and joyful day, and everything will be wonderful,” is one of the affirmations she shared from her morning routine.

By doing this you program yourself and your day, Richardson noted, explaining Hay also keeps a mirror at her desk so she can say loving things to herself during the day.

“One of the best things you can do for yourself is look in the mirror and say, ‘I love you. I really, really love you.’ I’m into simple things because I’ve realized that simple things work. Force yourself to look in the mirror and say beautiful things to yourself,” Hay told the audience, explaining each of us need to be our own cheerleaders. We should never put ourselves down, nor should we allow others to do so.

“If you can just do positive affirmations until you get yourself to the kitchen table then you are setting yourself up for an exceptional day – which will set you up for an exceptional life,” Hay said. “What you really are aiming at is how you can feel good all day long.”

The authors asked the audience what they thought about when walking out the door in the morning or getting into the car. Hay often blesses all the drivers on the road and thanks the car for a safe trip.

“Think about where you want to be and then create an affirmation around it,” Richardson said.

Below is a list of some affirmations shared at the conference:

-Everything I do brings me joy.
-Abundance flows into my life in surprising and miraculous ways.
-I bless and prosper everyone in my world and every one in my world blesses and prospers me.
-I only attract loving people into my world for they are a mirror of what I am.
-I love myself, therefore I forgive and totally release the past and all past experiences, and I am free.
