Editor’s Advice: How to Freeze Negativity

By Tammy Mastroberte

I was first introduced to Sonia Choquette by attending one of her workshops at an Omega NYC conference, and I purchased one of her best-selling books – “Trust Your Vibes: Secret Tools for Six-Sensory Living,” which explains how to live as a “six-sensory being” rather than only using the five senses (the sixth one being intuition).

While reading a chapter on “Psychic Protection,” Choquette described a process for blocking negativity. The goal of the exercise, or ritual, is to block any negativity from coming toward you and actually “freeze” it. In the book, Choquette shares how she used this exercise years ago when she had someone working for her that brought a lot of negativity around her. And a day after doing the exercise, that person quit.

While I was skeptical at first, I must admit, this ritual has never let me down. Choquette learned it from a friend, and I have since shared it with many friends and family members, who have seen amazing results … so I wanted to share it with Elevated Existence readers!

Here it goes: Choquette explains to take a glass jar with a lid, fill it with water and add blue food coloring for “added protection.” Now for those of you without a glass jar on hand, I recommend using a freezer baggie because it works just as well!

Then write on a piece of paper the following:

“I freeze all negativity known or unknown moving toward me as of now.”

Add the paper to the water, close the jar lid and pop it in the freezer. That’s it. Leave the rest to the Universe to take care of, and go on with your life.

The first time I did this, it was a Sunday evening, and I remember immediately feeling a little lighter – like all my worries and stress were sealed in the jar, and I didn’t have to carry them around with me anymore. By the next morning I received a phone call I had been waiting on for weeks, and as the days continued, the people who were draining me at the time suddenly had a change of personality.

Maybe it was the physical act of setting the intention and then letting go – Choquette explains in the book that the ritual “amplifies intention.” Maybe it was just coincidence. I don’t know, but aren’t you curious enough to find out for yourself?

Oh, and a word of caution – if you are using a glass jar, don’t fill the jar all the way with water … my first one cracked in the freezer and I had a bunch of glass to clean up!

Try it and then leave me a comment to let me know how it worked!

Is Stress Contagious? Science Says ‘Yes’

Have you ever felt stress in the air when you walked into work? Have you ever felt anxious after spending time with a worried friend?  Those who believe everything is made up of energy understand that we can absorb the energy around us. But now science may be backing up this theory.

Calling it “secondhand stress,” Mark Fenske, co-author of “The Winner’s Brain: 8 Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success,” and associate professor in neuroscience at the University of Guelph wrote an article in The Globe and Mail offering possible explanations backed by science on the contagious nature of both negative and positive emotions.

A recently discovered class of brain cells called “mirror neurons” are thought to “reflect
the actions and feelings of others,” said Fenske in the article. First discovered in monkeys, he said there is growing evidence behind the theory that the human brain has a similar system.

“Why do we cringe when we see someone else get hurt? Because we mentally simulate the event as if it were happening to us,” he said, explaining studies have shown the pain we feel for others when they get hurt activates the same regions in our brain when we get hurt ourselves.

Another theory is that stress leads to the release of pheromones during perspiration, which can “unconsciously impact brain activity and behaviour when inhaled by others,” said Fenske. Brain scans have actually shown that inhaling stress-produced sweat is enough to increase activation within the amygdala, an emotion-related region of the brain, he explained.

The amygdala is also activated from anxiety and is thought to help us respond to potential dangers, he said. “Scalp-based measures of electrical activity suggest that, compared to
exercise-produced sweat, inhaling a stressed-person’s sweat can cause the brain to increasingly treat others as potential threats, even if their facial expressions suggest they are actually harmless.”

However, the good news is, we can also benefit from positive emotions of others, he said. “Smiling and laughter, for example, are well known for their infectious nature. Acts of kindness, concern and patience for those having a bad day can likewise help to stem an epidemic of stress.”

So the next time you find yourself stressed or anxious and can’t figure out why – take a look at the environment or people around you to see if you might be reacting to them!

Deepak Chopra Takes Video Games to the Spiritual Level

Coming to an Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii near you … Deepak Chopra is launching a new video game based on meditation called Leela (which means ‘play’ in Sanskrit) in the United States on November 8, 2011, according to an Associated Press report.

“I personally believe that you can accelerate neural development and biological evolution through video games,” Chopra said in  the report. “Unfortunately, that’s not what we’re doing right now. What  we’re doing is creating addictions to violence, adrenaline and mindlessness,  rather than mindfulness. That was my personal motivation to get involved in  this medium.”

Leela, developed with THQ Inc., can be used with Xbox 360’s Kinect system to guide users through meditation exercises without the use of  remote, or with Nintendo Wii’s gaming system. The game consists of seven different  interactive exercises based on the chakra system. Gamers will use their body to  control the graphics on the screen – all while calming music is playing in the  background. And like any good game, it increases in difficulty as the player  goes along, the AP reported.

Additionally, one of the guided meditative modes will use Xbox Kinect’s depth sensor to measure seated players’ breathing patterns, and as the  player’s chest moves, they are instructed on how to control their breathing – thanks to the voice of yoga instructor Elena Brower.

Chopra believes that if gaming consoles add the abilities to wirelessly measure brain waves and intervals between heartbeats, they they could be even more beneficial to health and wellness, he told the AP.

“It’s all doable now,” said Chopra in the report. “We just have to bring it all together. If we can measure what’s happening  in your body, your heart, your emotions, your breath and your mind, then  there’s no reason why we can’t create a new generation of video games that can  help accelerate the personal, psychological, emotional and spiritual development of human beings.”

Abraham-Hicks Talks Source Connection Part II: Physical Health

In Part 2 of our coverage from a live, online 2-hour event on HayHouseRadio.com featuring Esther and Jerry Hicks and the evolved consciousness collectively known as Abraham, we are focusing on physical health.

If you missed Part 1, check out Abraham-Hicks on Unfulfilling Love Relationships.

When a caller asked about physical health, explaining she found it hard to concentrate on perfect health because every time she feels “a twinge of pain, it sends me down in a spiral, and I feel like I’m on a roller coaster” of feeling good and feeling pain.

The title of the event was “Getting in the Vortex,” and in their book “The Vortex: Where the Law of Attraction Assembles All Cooperative Relationships,” Abraham-Hicks describes the vortex as “that [which] contains all of the requests, all of the amended requests, each and every detail of each and every asking that has emanated from you – and the Law of Attraction is responding to that.”

Abraham explained that as soon as we realize what it is we don’t want, simultaneously we understand what we do want, and that request “bounces vibrationally into this vortex where it is being held for you.”

Our physical body is made up of “trillions of cells and within them are consciousness,” said Abraham. “Every particle of consciousness – whether it’s a one-cell organism, a cell in your body or a full human being – knows what it doesn’t want and what it does want, and sends out rockets” of desire.

In other words, similar to us as humans sending our rockets of desire into the universe, the cells in the body do the same. As soon as they realize they are not well, they send out the desire or need to be healthy, and their “request for improvement goes into their vortex – because your cells have a vortex too,” Abraham explained.

But here’s the difference between us as humans and the cells in our body – they don’t have a mind to get in the way!

“When a cell asks, the cell doesn’t brood and worry and fuss and justify and defend. So all day, every day, as your physical apparatus is exposed to unwanted intruders, the cells know what they don’t want and because they don’t hold themselves out of the vortex, they have manifestation right away,” Abraham said.

However, if we as human beings are feeling angry or upset or worried, we are setting up resistance that hinders the cells of our body from working properly. “If you are setting up resistance that the cell has to make its way through, you hinder immediate recovery or balance,” Abraham told the caller.

Instead of focusing on a pain in the body or any dis-ease, we need to get out of the way and let our cells do what they know how to do. Abraham recommends saying to ourselves, “Oh, this is exactly the way it is supposed to be. My cells are doing the work they know how to do because I am a vibrational being first and foremost … as these cells are asking for
improvement, they would find it immediately if I would stop fussing and get out
of the way. This sensation means help is on the way.”

In the vortex, we are already where we would like to be, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, Abraham explained. It’s just that this physical reality has not yet caught up with the vortex, and if we keep focusing on the physical reality, we will never catch up. “You just stay in the gap,” they told the caller.

Here’s to staying out of the way!

Abraham-Hicks Talks Source Connection Part I: Unfulfilling Love Relationships

In a live, online 2-hour event last year, Ester and Jerry Hicks, and the evolved consciousness collectively known as Abraham, tackled topics ranging from reviving a stalled relationship and healing disease to the best time for using affirmations, and we wanted to share them because the insights are truly timeless and can be applied by anyone starting right now!

During the program, and no matter the issue at hand, the solution always came back to connection. When we are connected to our inner being, our true self and our Source, we feel good. We manifest the things we desire, and all that we need to accomplish our goals seems to fall directly into our laps.

But when we are not connected, when we are focused on lack or on what we don’t want, negativity has a tendency to take over, and we forget that we have a choice not to stay there. Abraham reminds us that we can always make the choice to reconnect.

“As you poke around at the problem, you deny yourself access to the solution,” Abraham said during the live event on HayHouseRadio.com. “Look around your world and try to find things that are pleasing to you. Hang with positive friends and listen to music you like to get yourself back into the vortex.”

The title of the event was “Getting in the Vortex,” and in their book “The Vortex: Where the Law of Attraction Assembles All Cooperative Relationships,” they describe the vortex as “that [which] contains all of the requests, all of the amended requests, each and every detail of each and every asking that has emanated from you — and the Law of Attraction is responding to that.”

So, when we connect to the vortex, or our Source, we hook up to all we desire, which is sitting and waiting for us to reconnect.

During the event, a woman called into the live show and asked what she should do about a 15 year relationship that she no longer found fulfilling. What Abraham explained to her – and what is true for all of us – is that throughout her current relationship, and even before it started, she put preferences out into the universe about the type of relationship she wanted. When she first met this person, it was fun and fulfilling, but eventually she began focusing on what she didn’t like – and that is when the trouble began!

“You created ‘YOU in a relationship’ [that you desire] that is right now suspended in a vibrational arena waiting for you to vibrationally catch up with it. But you are not catching up because you are looking at the unpleasant details and using them as an excuse for holding you apart from who you really are,” said Abraham during the broadcast.

Until she becomes a vibrational match to the relationship she says she desires, she will not manifest it – whether it’s with the current love in her life, or someone new.

“We have a tendency to say, ‘hey lover of mine, you need to be different because when I look at you as you are, I don’t feel good,’ but it is your job to feel good, no matter what your relationship is – then the better one can come in – either with him or another,” said Abraham, explaining we need to care enough about feeling good and connecting with Source that we ignore what is happening in front of us, and focus on what we want to happen instead.

“We know it is easier to look at what is happening then to focus on what you want, but by saying ‘if you were different, I would feel better,’ has you in a place of bondage because you can’t control anybody else.”

Yes, it is easier said than done, but once we get there … the results are SO worth it!
