My Message From a Starbucks Fly

If you are familiar with me and my work, you know I believe we are given constant signs and synchronicities from the Universe to help us on our path — whether navigating us where to go next, assuring us we are on the right path or waking us up to something we might not have noticed or realized.

Well, my latest sign came courtesy of a fly at Starbucks!

I was sitting in a local Starbucks with the intent of working for a few hours without any distractions, and as soon as I sat down, I noticed a fly buzzing around the chair.

Now, this Starbucks was pretty big, and I was all the way in the back of the store, sitting in a nice brown leather chair with a table right next to hold my unsweetened, iced passion tea. I assumed since the place was pretty spacious the fly would eventually be on its way to another section (and another person).

I was wrong.

This fly was apparently in love with me because he never left my side. He crawled on the table next to me (I think he was even staring at me at one point) and he buzzed about in front of me, behind me and around me. He never truly got in my way, but he was there and kept grabbing my attention.

At one point I even texted my boyfriend: “I’m being harassed by a fly. Just thought I would share…”

Over two hours passed and this fly was still hanging out with me. Then it hit me! This fly has an entire Starbucks to roam about and he is sticking with me. There must be a reason.

I looked up the metaphysical meaning of a fly, and this is what I found:

“Your persistence in reaching your goals will bare fruit sooner than later. Even if that means annoying others or being selfish for a while — you do have the ability to accomplish your goals.”

I got the chills because here I was at Starbucks trying to minimize distraction so I could get work done and move toward my goals. Not only that, but I spent the last few weeks writing down my goals, breaking them down into projects and prioritizing daily tasks to get them all done (thank you J.B. Glossinger and your “Sacred Six Method”}. I have also been feeling guilty because I have work to do and can’t take off every time loved ones have off from work.

This fly reinforced exactly what I need to hear.

And the best part . . . as soon as I looked up the meaning online and got the message, after hanging with me for hours, the fly immediately flew away and never came back.

Message received little fly, and thank you for your help.

I wanted to share this story to show you an example of how the universe is always communicating with us, and sometimes even the things we find annoying or negative hold messages for us.

Keep your eyes open, my friends, and don’t discount anything — even a little fly.

The Soul Lives On

My mother passed away suddenly in 1999, and since then, I continually find comfort and peace from the signs she sends, letting me know she is still around me. Whether it’s in dreams, songs on the radio or advice she offers through a medium, my mother has proven to me time and again how the human body dies, but the soul lives on.

When Dr. Wayne Dyer passed away on August 20, 2015, millions mourned his loss. He touched the lives of so many, and I was lucky enough to interview him in 2011 when Elevated Existence presented him with its annual Spiritual Service Award. He lived what he taught, and left behind teachings that will continue to help and inspire millions for generations to come.

Although Wayne Dyer may have left his physical body, he is not done teaching others. In the June 2016 Issue, I interviewed two of his daughters, Serena and Saje Dyer, and fellow Hay House author and psychic medium Karen Noe, to reveal messages — both personal to his family and universal — he has shared since his passing.

“My relationship with my dad didn’t end on August 30, it just changed, and I can communicate with him in a different way. I can feel him in a different way, and I’m just choosing to see it as a beautiful thing and not an end,” Saje Dyer shares in the June 2016 cover story.

Layout 1Not only has Wayne Dyer sent a number of signs to his family since his passing, letting them know he is still around, but through Noe, many of his family members have received personal and touching messages — some which they share in this issue. He was most excited to share how he discovered the work he did while on Earth was the right path for him, and he confirmed much of what he taught on the other side.

“He said it was really all about love, and coming from a place of love. It’s all that matters,” Serena Dyer says. “You take with you the love, and he tried to teach that and get people to experience that. He felt happy to know that was right, and shared he is doing even more work now.”

One of the most important messages Dyer asked his family and Noe to communicate on his behalf was that he now has the ability to be present for whoever needs him at a moment’s notice. He is only a thought away.

“One thing he really wanted us to communicate on his behalf is you just have to have a thought of him and he will be there,” Serena shares. “And you don’t have to be his child or his wife or a family member to have that. He could be there for anybody now, and he wanted that to be known. He brought it up multiple times. He wants people to know he is there for them.”

I hope you find comfort in the messages and teachings Dyer and his family share in the June 2016 issue. And know that all our loved ones on the other side remain with us, and we all have the ability to open ourselves up to the signs they send letting us know.

What You Listen to Matters

The power of sound continues to astonish me. What we listen to can have an effect on our heart, blood pressure, blood flow, stress levels and our brain.

Did you know the Chinese character for medicine includes the character for music?

In ancient Greece, music was used to promote sleep, lower stress levels and ease pain. And Native Americans used both singing and changing in healing rituals. Scientific studies continue to discover the amazing benefits of the sounds we listen to and the effects on the body, specifically for healing.

In one study from Hong Kong, older volunteers who listened to relaxing music for 25 minutes a day for four weeks lowered their systolic pressure (the top number in a blood pressure reading) by 12 points and their diastolic pressure (the bottom number) by 5 points, while a control group that didn’t listen to music had no change in blood pressure, according to the Harvard Medical Review.

And that is just one example.

So my question to you is, what are you listening to during the day and to unwind at night? Is it relaxing and energizing you at the right times? Is it healing or hurting you?

I have been thinking more about this lately on my own healing journey, and so I decided to share with you some of my favorites to help you on your own path!

Focus & Concentration

mozart-volume-1“Music for the Mozart Effect Volume 1: Strengthen the Mind” by Don Campbell
I discovered “The Mozart Effect” music years ago and have listened to it ever since. Created by author Don Campbell, who wrote the books on how music is medicine for the mind, body and soul, including “The Mozart Effect” and “The Mozart Effect for Children,” his CDs are filled with music from Mozart to target a desired effect on the body and mind. This one is used for intelligence and learning, and is great for studying, learning, reading or on your way to work. I often listen to this during the day while I am working, and find I can concentrate better and get more done!

Healing

grace-and-gratitude-front“Grace and Gratitude,” by Olivia Newton-John
Ever since I interviewed her for Elevated Existence’s September 2009 cover story, I have had this CD on my playlist and I listen to it often and love it. It’s filled with spiritually focused and inspiring songs Newton-John wrote after her battle with cancer in order to help other people heal. It includes 10 songs featuring universally spiritual lyrics, alternating with 10 instrumental selections that relate to the different chakras and emotions in the body.

Songs include “Pearls on a Chain,” where she sings, “And if you look in my eyes, you will see we are souls alike, we are pearls on a chain,” and “Let Go, Let God,” with lyrics like “Let the signs remind you, we are passengers. Let the signs remind you to surrender.”

mozart-volume-2“Music for the Mozart Effect Volume 2: Heal the Body” by Don Campbell
Another great one by Don Campbell, and this one is specifically for healing the body. It can be listened to any time of day, and is especially relaxing to unwind at night. Be sure to look at all The Mozart Effect music because there are other volumes, and even those specifically for children!

snatam-kaur“The Essential Snatam Kaur: Sacred Chants for Healing” by Snatam Kaur
This is another one I will listen to in the background during the day. Snatam Kaur’s voice is beautiful and soothing, and known by those who practice Kundalini yoga. It can be listened to during meditation and yoga as well. Kaur has a number of albums but this is a great collection for healing.

soul-of-healing“The Soul of Healing Affirmation: A to Z Guide to Reprogramming the Soul,” by Deepak Chopra and Adam Plack
Set to soothing music, listen to Deepak Chopra as he repeats 26 affirmations (on topics from A to Z) to engage the body, mind and spirit toward balance, healing and rejuvenation. From A for Acceptance to Z for Zero. I love listening to this during the day while I’m working because I feel like I’m feeding my mind and soul and programming myself with positive affirmations at the same time.

Relax & Unwind

relax-destress-weil“Relax & Destress: Dr. Andrew Weil’s Music for Self-Healing,” by Dr. Andrew Weil and Joshua Leeds
This collection of classical music was scientifically selected and performed to reduce physical tension, calm anxiety and create inner calm. This is perfect for nighttime, but I also listen during the day (even while I work) when I find myself stressed out.

very-best-enya“The Very Best of Enya” by Enya
I adore all of Enya’s music and find it very relaxing. This one is a collection of 19 songs and there are so many of my favorites on it. Her voice literally soothes the soul in my opinion. P.S. she has a new album coming out November 27, 2015 called Dark Sky Island, so be on the lookout for that!

I hope you will try some of these selections, and let me know what you think in the comments below. And if you have any that you listen to and would like to share, comment on that below too because I’m always looking for new music!

AUDIO ~ Spiritual Entrepreneurs: Building a Heart-Centered Business

Do you feel stuck in your spiritual business (or in getting one started) and wondering what steps to take to create more successDoes the thought of selling your service, your gift, make you INCREDIBLY uncomfortable?

Psychic medium Marilyn Alauria and mindful marketing expert Kimberly Maska shared secrets for spiritual entrepreneurs to create an abundant business in a live call with Elevated Existence founder Tammy Mastroberte (listen to the call below).

And a spiritual entrepreneur doesn’t mean you see one-on-one clients, or need to be a healer, psychic or life coach. The definition they use is much broader than that.

“It’s really about having a message that you need to get out ther to change the world,” Maska said on the call. “You can do that through the arts, singing, or any modality. If you have a way to change the world and make it a better place, and you are doing it authentically and from your heart, that is a spiritual entrepreneur.”

Alauria and Maska took live calls, answered questions from the audience and shared a number of tips to build a heart-centered business. As a psychic medium, Alauria shared the importance of asking our guides for help when it comes to business concerns.

“So many people don’t recognize they can ask their guides marketing advice, partnership advice or what product to sell,” she explained. “If you don’t know who your guides are, but are an artist and love Van Gogh’s work, then call in the energy of Van Gogh and start communicating with it. Print out a picture and start talking to it. Or if you really admire Oprah, she may not be deceased but you can call in that energy because whoever you admire means that energy exists in you, and you want to start awakening it, paying attention to it and being conscious about it to help you in your business.”

Maska also addressed how many spiritual business owners tend to shy away from marketing, but the key is to reframe the way we are thinking about it. Rather than looking at the selling aspect, she recommended focusing on serving.

“We tend to look at selling as you are pushing something on someone they don’t really want, but what if they do want it or need, and you are going to change their life,” she shared. “When you start thinking about what you are going to sell, start thinking about the value you are giving. If you can solve a problem for someone or give them a solution, they will pay for that.”

Kenji Kumara: The Joy of Be-ing Present

By Jennifer McCartney

Catalyst, activator and initiator for personal and planetary transformation, Kenji Kumara joined Elevated Existence founder Tammy Mastroberte for the “Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit Season 2,” to share how we can radically shift our vibration to one of love, peace and joy — which is our true birthright.

“My personal goal for people is to give them something that would be practical in their life,” Kumara said of his teachings. “What is unique that I can offer people?” Some of the common complaints he hears from people are that they feel overworked, too busy, or disconnected from God.

“It’s the challenge of ‘everything I’ve done up to now in my life isn’t working,’” he said. “Not enough time in the day to get stuff done—that’s very common now,” he continued. Often people feel like they need a second person just to enable them to complete their daily tasks such as answering emails. But bigger than these issues, he noted, is worry. “Worry comes from unconscious fear, which comes from the judgments we make about ourselves and other people,” he noted.

To begin recovering our sense of self and increasing our connection with the universe, we need to start by relinquishing judgment, which causes worry. “The masters say at some point you have to give up all desire to make judgments about anything,” he shared. “We can acknowledge the judgments without letting them control us.”

Often we judge ourselves for worrying, feeling disconnected or being different. We suspect that we’re special, but squash that feeling in order to fit in, or belong. We may see an angel or feel a vibration or read people’s thoughts or have a vision of the future or even hear voices, Kenji suggested. This isn’t something to be ashamed of but an opportunity we can embrace—the act of “appearing normal, but having an awareness or a consciousness that can be very different from others.” We must embrace our difference. “We’re getting out of this gross thinking of analyzing and logic and staying in your box. The key is to embody that in your everyday life to where you appear to be normal, but you’re not.”

What most people ultimately come to, no matter what issue or problem they are tackling, is the question of how — How do I find my soulmate? How do I get out of a marriage? How do I find a new job.

To uncover these answers, the first step is breath work, Kumara said. leading listeners in a breathing exercise to help ground them in the present:

“Take a deep breath and let all the old breath out of your body. Do it again, and breathe into your body. Feel the breath and then slowly exhale. Let go. Do it one more time. As you do this you come into more present. Hold the intention that ‘I’m going to be present in my body. And I’m going to ground my body to my feet and the beloved underneath.’ Take another breath and hold the knowing that I’m going to hold this state and more for the next day. Then exhale.

Take another deep breath. And then exhale and relax. Now we’re going to create another intention where so you’re going to slowly breathe in from the belly and then breathe up into the brain and you’re going to say to yourself ‘I’m ready to receive a wave of love.’ Now exhale. Keep your space open.”

This exercise not only grounds us, but opens us up to receiving a wave of love. We have access to all kinds of waves for any issues, he said. “It’s all about what you believe. If you create the reality that ‘when I do this and invoke that,’ this is what’s going to happen—and more.”

He offered another exercise for allowing better communion with God or Source. “What is the source of you feeling separated from God?” he asked. “So just say to your higher intelligence, ‘I am open ready to receive.’” Place your palms open on your lap and be open to receiving the answers. Breathe in and then exhale. Do it one more time. Breathe in, ‘I am ready to know now.’ Slowly exhale.

“The more you do these exercises…the more present you’re going to be, and the stronger you’re going to be,” he said. “A lot of people come to us not strong enough and so they go seek out healers and psychics, and channelers, massage therapist, and doctors…and it’s okay up to a point, but at some point you got to realize now ‘I’ve got to do the work.’”

It’s time to get rid of the excuses that we don’t have enough time or energy. “If God came to each one of you and said ‘okay today’s the day now of your awakening,’ can you throw out your to-do list for today and just be with this God presence for the whole day? Is that a priority for you, or is your to-do list more important?”
