The Art of Manifestation

By Sherry Winn

Many people ask me about how to manifest their desires. They want a simple formula. Something they can do a single time and get instantaneous results. Imagine doing something just one time and being an expert. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

In the 23 years I was a collegiate basketball coach, we never practiced one time and then thought we were prepared to play a game. We created what we wanted by continually practicing, revising and testing our skills. It was an ongoing process to become a good team.

Every year I coached, I learned something new that enhanced my ability. I became more effective and efficient because I had enhanced my skills through repetition and research.

Manifesting your dreams is a process. It requires awareness and the desire to improve who you are.

You might have been practicing manifesting for years without awareness because you allowed your thoughts to think you rather than being in control of your thoughts. Maybe you created unwanted circumstances or people in your life by putting all your energy into what you did not want. Maybe you manifested dis-ease because you put too much energy into guilt or shame. Maybe you formed a life of continual challenges because you believed there was no gain without pain.

Now that you are aware energy goes where attention flows, you can begin to practice where you put your attention. This requires effort. Thoughts flow through us quickly and many times these are thoughts we have practiced thinking, which means we have to develop a new habit of thinking different thoughts.

For example, if you believed there was no gain without pain, and you told yourself that message 30 times a day for 5 years, you would have lodged that thought pattern into your brain 54,650 times. In order to change the neural networks you have created through repetition, you replace your no gain, no pain thought with another thought. Instead of believing gain is associated with pain, you shift your belief system to the idea that goals are attained through sustained attention and right action. Pain does not need to be part of the process.

How do you practice manifesting?

1.  Take the time to become aware of your thoughts. Write down your 10 biggest beliefs and then list how those beliefs are serving you. If your beliefs are not serving you, it is time to change them.

2.  Read personal development books that focus on the positive.

3.  Use your car as a library. When you get in your car, commit to listening to 10-15 minutes of an audio book that will help you grow.

4.  Meditate daily. This is huge. Meditation opens your awareness and it allows you to practice letting go of unwanted thoughts.

5.  Assign one notebook to your goals. Fold the page in half at the midline. Every day write down five goals written in terms of affirmations (as if the goal has already occurred) on one half of the page. On the other half of the page, write down what beliefs are preventing you from achieving your goals.

6.  Note the beliefs you have that are preventing you from achieving your goals. Work on changing those beliefs.

7.  Repeat your affirmations throughout the day. See the affirmations in your head. Act as if you are already living your dreams.

By practicing to manifest your dreams, you not only receive what you want, you enhance who you are. This is the true practice of manifestation — the process of becoming wiser, more joyful, happier, more loving and kind. Once you become who you want to be, you attract more of what you want.

Law of Attraction: Shifting the Paradigm to Manifest

By Sherry Winn

Let’s start off by defining a paradigm? It is the reality in which you live. In other words, it is the model, the pattern and the template of how you perceive the world. In order to find success in the law of attraction, you need to shift how you experience the world.

For example, let’s take goal setting. You have probably planned and took action, and there have been times life sent you three curveballs in a row. You may have perceived these as something outside of yourself, and outside of your ability to control. You may have believed that no matter how much you planned, it really didn’t matter. Life had rules of its own.

This is your model. You have lived it and heard it all your life. You believe you can control your reactions to events, but you don’t have the power to control the events themselves.

You’ve based your entire life on having a positive attitude, seeking the best within situations. You’ve been able to take difficult situations and find happiness within them. You feel good about this. And you should. You are happier and more joyful, but you are not living the dreams you desire. You are accepting life as it is.

Is this bad? No. It is a great step toward living your dreams because you are raising your vibration by being positive. Having high vibrations are a crucial step toward attracting what you want.

However, there is a difference between believing you have to accept what you have now and finding happiness within it, and intentionally raising your vibration knowing you are not yet where you want to be.

Total Responsibility
In order to live the law of attraction, you need to believe you are absolutely responsible for ALL things that happen to you — the good and the bad. OUCH! When I first heard this, I balked at the idea. Who wants to believe they are attracting being fired, chronic pain, or being dumped by a partner?

I know for a fact, I never said, “I want to develop chronic pain and live in agony for years.” Who would say that? I do know, though, that I believed the following:

  • Life wasn’t fair.
  • Bad things happened to good people.
  • You don’t get to choose your life. You get to choose your attitude.
  • Whatever will be will be. The future is not ours to see. (K-surah, surah)
  • We don’t get everything we want. Life doesn’t work that way.
  • There is not enough good to go around, so some people get stuck with the bad.

Can you see where my paradigm was stuck? Even though I didn’t want chronic pain or to get fired, I believed in a philosophy of life that determined the way I saw the world. I expected life to be unfair. I anticipated pain. I believed certain unpleasant things were just going to happen to me.

Due to my belief system, I was attracting what I thought about most of the time. I was responsible for creating the emotional and physical pain I felt.

Acknowledging the Creator Within
In order to live the law of attraction, a true shift had to take place. I had to believe I had more power than I realized. This was scary to acknowledge I was born with a gift to create. I was a creator.

You, too, are a creator. We create with our thoughts, which determine our actions. Imagine what would happen if you shifted your belief system to include total responsibility. What would happen if you were able to change your thoughts to believe you had the power to create your life, not just accept it?

What would happen if you changed your philosophy like I changed mine?

  • Life is fair.
  • Things happen because we attract them.
  • You get to choose your life by changing your thoughts.
  • The future is ours to create.
  • We get what we believe we can have.
  • There is more than enough. We can all live abundantly.

Can you see now how a shift in paradigm can change how the law of attraction works for you?

Wild Divine Launches Manifestation Challenge to Benefit Charity

Wild Divine, developer of unique whole-body relaxation training programs incorporating its unique feedback “iom” technology, launched a Manifestation Challenge to benefit charity via it’s Wild Divine Online (WDO) platform.

WDO is a private social network for meditation and mindfulness, and the manifestation unites the Wild Divine community to build something together to benefit others. Here is how it works:

Members of the WDO can visit a new mysterious area and complete meditations led by Deepak Chopra and others (there will be more added over time) to earn manifestation points that can be used as votes for one of the five charities listed including Amnesty International and the Red Cross.

“Once the manifestation is complete, Wild Divine will make a cash contribution to the charity with the most votes,” said Kyle Widner, president and CEO of Wild Divine. “We designed our virtual world to help create positive change in the real world. This is the first of many events that will focus on supporting causes that are important to our community.”

Editor’s Advice: We Create with the Heart

By Tammy Mastroberte

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, the law of attraction just doesn’t seem to work in your favor. Maybe you’ve set intentions, created a vision board, practiced affirmations, visualized the end result and tried your hardest, but you still have not manifested the relationship, job or paycheck you want.

I feel your pain. I’ve been there too!

Recently, I started a new online course from best-selling author, Sonia Choquette called “Creating Your Heart’s Desire,” so I could review it for Elevated Existence. Choquette also has a book called, “Your Heart’s Desire: Instructions for Creating the Life You Really Want,” and the online course allows a person to go at his or her own pace, view videos, listen to audio files and utilize a downloadable workbook.

Well, within the first few videos I watched, I learned something I had to share! Are you ready?

We don’t create with the head. We create with the heart.

Now, I’m sure you’ve heard how important our thoughts are in the creation process and in activating the law of attraction. And this is still very true. But the other piece many law of attraction experts talk about is the feeling or emotion behind the thought – and that is key!

“The intellect does not create. The heart is what creates,” Choquette says in the course. “You don’t create when you are frustrated. You need to get your vitality up.”

This means we need to feel passion, excitement, joy and love about what we are creating. In fact, we need to feel these things in general in order to keep ourselves in a place of allowing, and at a vibration matching the wonderful things we are calling into our lives.

Choquette recommends starting to focus on the things we love – be it a walk in the park, cooking in our kitchen, spending time with our children, or even the smell of fresh sheets out of the dryer. For me, some of the things I love are working on a new issue of Elevated Existence Magazine, writing, reading a good book, laughing with friends, learning new things, and teaching what I learn to other people.

“Connect to what creates excitement and that feeling of love in your heart,” says Choquette.

This week, make a list of the things you love and that bring you joy. Pay attention to them, talk about them, focus on them, and begin to uncover the feelings they evoke within you. It is from this heart-centered place that true creation begins.

Also, many of us may be confused about what we want, and being focused is another important part of manifestation. “Vague focus will bring vague results,” Choquette explains. One of the exercises she shares is called “Diving for Gold,” which can help you uncover what your spirit or soul truly desires.

Either in the shower, at the end of a meditation session, or other quiet moment you have, take a deep breath and finish this sentence:

“If I weren’t afraid, I would…”

You may be surprised at what emerges from within. You can even repeat the exercise each day to see what answers you get. This is a way of letting your spirit or soul speak what it truly desires.

When we can connect to the feelings of passion, excitement and love, co-creating with the universe become a natural process. When we lead with the heart, it is easier for the mind will follow.

Happy manifesting!

Three Ways to Repel Negativity (And Attract What You Want in Life)

By Jennifer Garza

When it comes to the law of attraction and manifesting our desires, negativity is the fastest way to sabotage our goals. Here are three ways we can stop the flow of negativity in our lives.

Resist the urge to vent.

We all vent – it’s a way to blow off steam after a hard day or an argument with a friend. It seems harmless. However, recent studies show that this urge can actually be hazardous to your health. The problem with venting is that once you start, it’s hard to stop, and gripes can quickly turn into rumination. According to research, rumination sustains or increases feelings of sadness, creates negative thinking, interferes with ability to solve problems, and decreases motivation.

TIP: Take a two-week no-venting challenge. You’ll be surprised how after a respite, you’ll notice that venting creates feelings of heaviness. During the challenge, find humor in your situations and laugh. Replace your urges to vent with gratitude for the good things in your life!

Focus on the positive.

Negativity attracts negativity. Ever notice how a day that begins badly usually gets worse? If you wake up on the wrong side of the bed your thoughts swing to the negative. Do an increased amount of negative situations actually occur? Maybe, maybe not. But situations are at least perceived more negatively.

For instance, instead of ignoring the rude person in line for coffee, you say to yourself “What a jerk. People are so inconsiderate.” This line of thought increases your “inconsiderate people” radar throughout the day. However, if you chose to say to yourself “Aw, poor guy probably had a rotten morning like me!” and smile, you might be surprised how your mood shifts. And your kindness may have the same effect on the gentleman who left his manners at home that morning.

TIP: For every negative situation, try to figure out what opportunity exists there. Is it an opportunity to learn or extend kindness? If you can’t find the silver lining, realize you can’t control everything and everyone and release the negative thoughts. Remember, research shows that persistent negative thoughts can contribute to depression.

Remind yourself that you are in control of your feelings.

You will have bad days – we all do. But when you feel blue, instead of blaming the weather or a loved one’s comment for your mood – decide to take charge. You may not be able to control your circumstances, but you can control your thoughts about the circumstance. Realize that no situation or person can make you feel badly unless you allow it.

TIP: Figure out what you’re telling yourself that is contributing to your negative frame of mind. Does one negative thought like “I feel stuck in my job right now” spiral into generalization like “I’ll be stuck in this crappy job forever?” Replace these generalizations with positive affirmations for the future!
